With help and connections from MyBigCareer, Mercy is following her dream to be a physiotherapist.

In Sixth Form I attended an Access Day arranged by MyBigCareer all about careers in healthcare. The speakers, who were professionals from the sector and university students studying healthcare, shared loads of helpful advice and were so passionate about working in the sector. They left no doubt in my mind that this was something I wanted to do.

Then two years later I was applying to study physiotherapy at university and had a couple of interviews scheduled.  I was worried. I didn’t know any family or friends who had even had an interview for university let alone studied physiotherapy so I contacted the charity to see if they could help me.  Within 48 hours they’d arranged for me to meet Alisa, a MyBigCareer volunteer who was a qualified physiotherapist. The advice she gave and the mock interview we did together made me feel so much more confident going into the interview.  I was over the moon when I received an offer from the university to study there.

MyBigCareer has been there for me. They’ve created opportunities and made connections for me, and given me the confidence to follow my dream.
